About DealHunter

Built by JD Dove · Founder

DealHunter is a marketplace alert platform that monitors Facebook Marketplace, Mercari, eBay, OfferUp, Poshmark, Craigslist, and Depop simultaneously and pings you the moment a listing matches your saved search. The product exists because the marketplace landscape has fragmented across seven apps, native notifications are unreliable or have been quietly removed, and underpriced items sell in minutes.

Who built it

I'm JD Dove, the founder. Before building DealHunter I spent twenty years in enterprise cloud architecture at companies including Dell and Xerox — designing the kind of distributed data infrastructure that processes millions of events per day. I started DealHunter after years of personal frustration refreshing browser tabs hoping to catch a deal before someone else did. The platform applies the same patterns I built for Fortune 500 data pipelines to the very specific problem of marketplace deal discovery.

What makes it different

Every alert DealHunter fires is backed by a ground-truth dataset of marketplace listings across all seven sources. That data is what lets the product surface real outliers — items priced well below comparable sold listings — instead of just relaying everything that matches a keyword. The DealHunter blog draws on the same dataset to cover what's actually flipping, at what margin, on which platform.

Editorial standards

Articles on the DealHunter blog cite first-party data from our internal listing dataset and link to original sources when referencing third-party research. Posts are reviewed before publication and updated when underlying data changes. Author bylines reflect the person responsible for editorial decisions on each post.
